Joyeux Noel!

I created this card in remembrance of a little pigeon that I rescued this year, and the poor fella never made it, So this is his little homage.. he had a broken wing and a bald head but he was still gorgeous! RIP Pigee xxx

Wistful fairy

Happy Halloween y'all!!!
I was really pleased with how this fairy turned out,
especially her face, she looks thoughtful and hopefully
ethereal, I really enjoyed drawing her and fingers crossed
I will be drawing lots more, only time will tell!

Little Red Riding Hood

Good Afternoon peeps, thought I would post my most recent piece that I have been working on for my portfolio.
I'm really pleased how it's turned out, I don't think I've ever drawn, or coloured for that matter, something as complex as this before. It was definitely a labour of love, anywho, here it is!
Until next time...

Introducing Florence!

Hey peeps! I haven't posted in a little while,
but that's kinda a good thing as I've been super busy!
Thought I would post this character that I've been working on, she's a little bunny/girl, and she's just got a new little baby brother, which is making her feel a little jealous, out of place, but not to fear I think it will all work out in the end..
More of Florence coming soon xXx

Sweet baby elephants!

I made these Elephant cards by stitching some felt together,
I find drawing through sewing so therapeutic (almost meditative) and it's nice to see it in a final form too (on a card).
I'm thinking I might carry this series on with baby giraffes, sloths anything I find cute basically! I hope you enjoy :)

Three, is the magic number

Howdy boys and girls! I keep desperately trying to write and finish this spread for my griffin story, but things keep getting in the way (not that I'm complaining about design work, I'm so grateful!)
So... I thought I'd put up some stuff (some finished, some not)
for your eyes to pour over already..

Buds and Blooms

Hello Lovely blog gazers, I'm feeling a little fragile today as it was my boyfriends 30th Birthday yesterday, it was a wonderful day and for his present I booked us a night in a beautiful gypsy caravan near Glastonbury, I can't wait!

My wonderful Aunt also made a great cake, which I will have to show in my next post, when I upload the piccies..

Recently I've been working in a studio in Gloucester.
They are a large greeting company, called the Great British Card Company. I showed them some of my work a while ago and they let me have a little desk to work at... so nice to get out of my room!

Here are some botanical sketches I've been working on

and a sleepy bunny too...

Mash up

Hello Hello, this weekend I've been working on story book stuff, but wanted to change the background of my twitter account as it was looking a bit rubbishy, anyway, here it is!

Roughed Up!

Sorry it's been a while since I last blogged, I've been doing a fair bit of design work, but here are a few unfinished pieces which I'm enjoying at the moment.

New Character

-Clara-
This is a little sketch that I started yesterday,
I have a story that I'm trying to develop and this little
girl popped into my head, the glasses are quite rudimentary, roughly added on in photoshop so need to resketch them, infact I'm not sure if I like them, so will post a pic without too...

rabbiting on

This is a little sneak preview of the next card design I'm working on, I'm just about to start colouring it up, I love this car and wouldn't mind at all being driven about in it by mr. bunny!

more card ideas

Hello one and all, just another short post, two more cards that I've been working on for the last week and a bit, I hope you like them, I quite enjoy the simplicity of the second one...

over and out.

Greetings!

This is one of a series cards that I'm working on for my
portfolio and an upcoming show. I really like designing cards as
I can never find exactly the one I want in the shops and this is
a satisfying way of rectifying that, I hope people have the same taste as me, I'm worried it's all gone a bit saccharine and twee but to be honest, sometimes that's what I want! teehee x Enjoy!

Lickety Split!

I started on a new picture today,  well it consisted of sketching out a few ideas and collecting reference from the internet, I decided I wanted to illustrate the age old favourite 'The Owl and the Pussy Cat' (Edward Lear is one of my fave authors and one of my most treasured possessions is a copy of his 'Book of Nonsense', I researched images by illustrators and felt inspired to do my own interpretation, that and the fact that I'm desperate to draw an owl, and the sea and a cute kitty!

I was just doing some super quick scribbles, when I actually quite liked one of them, I think it was because I didn't feel ready to start labouring away on the intensely detailed version, so I decided to do a quick colour of the scribble... anywho, here tis;

...and the sketch book page it came from

Snowy Griffin and girl

Hello hello on this wondrously sunny spring afternoon! I have been busy getting this last picture ready for the folks at Advocate to take to Bologne today,  I think it came out o.k! Well I like it anyway, I think I prefer the cropped version which I have messed about with the hues, I think it looks a bit softer with a bit more  yellow in it, anywho, here are both versions... make up your own mind! Right I best get going, I have a book to design, eek!
Over and out XxX

Life aquatic

Hello! this post is my latest illustration, I had real fun doing it, apart from the slight queasiness I got from looking at too many reference pictures of warty toads, I had to start renaming photoshop layers from 'left hand toad warts' to 'left hand toad spots', as it was all getting a bit grim! Anywho, I hope you enjoy it.... Much Love! Jessica

Going underground

Hello peeps, Since my last post I have been busy sketching away on this underground scene, it's again, roughly based on Thumbelina. I'm about to colour it up but thought I'd show it to you in it's raw form first,  kinda like the before and after, I hope you like it!!!! xxx
